Interior Designer Poznań – Interior Design KIKO Design
Albert Hadley – one of the most influential American interior designers of the 20th century – once said that interiors should not be created for show, but to support well-being. I completely agree and that is exactly how I approach every project.
The space in which we live and work has a real impact on our well-being, focus and daily functioning – and that is exactly what I think about when I design.
I am an interior designer from Poznań and I design spaces where aesthetics and quality of life go hand in hand.

Professional Interior Design in Poznań and Surroundings
I specialise in residential and commercial interior design in Poznań and the surrounding municipalities. I work with private clients – people furnishing their first apartment, families renovating a house, individuals with specific sensory needs – as well as companies requiring an office or exhibition stand design. I have completed projects for clients from Poznań, Komorniki, Luboń, Kórnik, Mosina, Swarzędz and many other locations in Greater Poland.

What sets KIKO Design apart?
I have no single style or layout I apply to every project. Every interior starts with a conversation – about how you live, what you like, what doesn't work in your current space and what you expect. Only then do I start designing.
Tailored design
A small city-centre apartment poses completely different challenges than a detached house on the outskirts, and a compact guest bathroom follows different rules than a large master bathroom. This individual approach – not a template – determines whether a design truly meets the client's needs.
Technical documentation and 2D drawings
I provide complete technical documentation including 2D drawings – floor plans with furniture layouts, installation plans, floor and wall designs. With this documentation a contractor can simply walk in and get to work – no calls with questions, no guesswork, no discrepancies between what we planned and what ends up on site.
Design supervision
I monitor the construction process, verify material choices and ensure the final result matches the design. Because even the best documentation cannot replace the presence of a designer at key moments during the build.
Specialisation in neurodivergent-inclusive design
This is an area that is particularly important to me – and personal. I specialise in designing for neurodivergent individuals, being part of that community myself. I know how much space affects daily functioning, how important acoustics, lighting quality and environmental predictability are. This is not an add-on service – it is the natural direction of my work.

Residential interior design
Apartment design
I design apartments of every size and in any condition – from an empty developer shell to a renovation of an existing interior. Small apartments require particular attention to ergonomics and space-saving solutions. Every decision about furniture layout, built-ins or lighting carries more weight here than in a large space. In bigger apartments, stylistic consistency and a logical zoning plan that works in everyday use are key.
Single-family house design
When designing houses I focus on a well-considered zoning layout – day, night and utility areas – and on the overall coherence of the interior. A home is a space where the different needs of its occupants must coexist: remote work, children's study, cooking together, relaxing. A good design takes all of this into account and gives everyone the space they need.
Renovation and modernisation of existing interiors
I also handle renovations and modernisations of existing interiors, where the starting point is the existing constraints – structural layout, installations, things that cannot be changed. These projects require creative solutions that reconcile technical realities with the client's visual expectations. Often the most interesting ideas emerge in exactly these projects.
Individual room design
Kitchens and open-plan living areas
The kitchen is one of the most challenging rooms to design – lots of installations, lots of decisions and a high risk of mistakes. Ergonomics, proper zone lighting and well-thought-out storage are key. I design both compact kitchen areas in smaller apartments and open-plan living spaces combining cooking with family life – with an island, dining area and lounge zone.
Bathrooms
I design bathrooms of every size – from small guest toilets where every centimetre counts, through standard main bathrooms, to spacious bathrooms with relaxation areas. In small spaces I pay particular attention to solutions that visually enlarge the room: tile format, lighting, wall-hung fixtures.
Bedrooms and dressing rooms
A bedroom should be a place of rest – that sounds obvious, but in practice it requires carefully chosen dimmable lighting, good acoustics and adequate storage so the room doesn't feel chaotic. I design bedrooms with dressing rooms and bespoke built-in furniture tailored to the specific room and the needs of its occupants.
Children's and teenagers' rooms
A child's room must serve several functions at once – study, play, relaxation and sleep zones. I always design these rooms with flexibility in mind: furniture that can be rearranged, zones that can be transformed, and solutions that will serve for years. If a child is on the autism spectrum, has ADHD or other sensory needs, I incorporate this from the very first stage of the project – not as an afterthought.
Home office and study rooms
Working from home is something many of my clients know from daily experience. I design workspaces with a focus on workstation ergonomics, proper lighting and – wherever possible – separating the work zone from the rest of the apartment. If a dedicated room is not available, this effect can be achieved through furniture layout, lighting and material choices.
Commercial and office interiors
Offices and coworking spaces
I design offices with a focus on how people actually work in a given space – individually, in teams, in focused concentration or on the move. I concentrate on workspace functionality, proper lighting and workstation ergonomics. The representational quality of reception areas and conference rooms is also important – it is the company's calling card and the first thing a client or business partner sees.
Exhibition stands
Exhibition stands are a distinct area of my work. I specialise in designing trade fair architecture with high sales potential. I provide high-quality 3D offer visualisations and full production documentation for implementation teams. I have worked for KOWR on stands presented at agricultural fairs in Poland and abroad. These are projects with high visual demands and strictly defined deadlines.
Interior design consultations
Oferuję eksperckie spojrzenie dla osób, które urządzają przestrzeń samodzielnie.
For those who want to design their space independently but need an expert perspective, I offer consultations. I will help you verify an idea, select materials and colours, plan lighting or assess whether the functional layout makes sense. We will do this together, before you spend money on something that cannot easily be undone. It is also a good solution when you already have a design and want to consult it before implementation.
Interior design for neurodivergent individuals
Designing with neurodivergent individuals in mind – this is the natural direction of my work.
Designing with neurodivergent individuals in mind is not a specialisation I added to my offer because it is fashionable or in demand. It is the natural direction of my work, arising from personal experience. I am a neurodivergent person myself and I know how profoundly space affects daily functioning.
I know what it means when lighting is too intense, when acoustics leave no room to breathe, and when an unpredictable room layout generates stress. This is knowledge you cannot learn from a textbook.
I design rooms and apartments for children on the autism spectrum, people with ADHD, people with sensory hypersensitivity and those who simply need a space that does not overwhelm them.
In these projects, acoustics, lighting quality and colour temperature, material and texture choices, and a predictable zone layout all play a crucial role – these elements are considered from the very start.
Every such project begins with a conversation about how a specific person functions. If a client is already working with a sensory integration therapist, I am happy to involve them in the design process. Good interior design and good therapy can support each other.
I write more about my approach to neurodivergent design on my blog – I invite you to read it if this topic interests you.
Explore neurodivergent design servicesHow does interior design work? Step by step
I carry out every project following a proven process. I describe it in detail because I know that for many clients – especially those commissioning an interior design for the first time – clarity is just as important as the end result.
First meeting
and needs analysis
The first step is always a conversation. I ask not just about style and colours, but about how you actually use the space.
- How you live and use your space
- How many people live there, whether you work remotely, whether you have pets
- Survey and precise measurement of rooms
- Photographic documentation and installation survey
Concept design
Based on the interview and survey I prepare a functional layout proposal for the rooms.
- Well-considered circulation routes
- Day and night zone division
- Colour scheme, materials and moodboards
- Testing different layout options
Technical design
and documentation
After the concept is approved I prepare complete technical documentation required for implementation.
- Technical drawings with precise furniture and installation layouts
- Floor and wall finish designs
- Lighting design (functional and decorative)
- Built-in and bespoke furniture designs + material schedules
Design supervision
during construction
I offer design supervision – I monitor the progress of works, verify material choices and check that the implementation matches the design.
- Ongoing collaboration with contractors
- Corrections when something requires intervention
- Recommended specialists: renovation teams, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, tilers
Completed interior projects – selected KIKO Design works
I design very different interiors – small apartments in the centre of Poznań and spacious detached houses in surrounding municipalities, compact bathrooms requiring maximum use of space and large living areas combining a lounge with a kitchen and dining area, children's rooms and home offices, private and commercial interiors.
Every project starts from different needs and ends with a different result. The common denominator is one – a space that works as it should and looks as the client wanted.
In the portfolio you will find projects of apartments, detached houses, bathrooms, children's and teenage rooms, office spaces and exhibition stands – from Poznań, Komorniki, Luboń, Kórnik, Mosina and other locations in Greater Poland, as well as projects from outside the region.

My main area of operation is Poznań and municipalities within several dozen kilometres of the city. I know the local contractor market, material suppliers and the local specifics of construction – both older tenement buildings in the centre and new developer projects on the outskirts.
Poznań
I serve all districts of the city – from Grunwald and Jeżyce, through the Old Town and Wilda, to Winogrady, Piątkowo and Nowe Miasto. Central apartments often have their own character – high ceilings, large windows, layouts requiring a creative approach. New developments on the outskirts pose different questions: how to plan the space optimally.
Municipalities near Poznań
Komorniki, Luboń, Mosina, Kórnik, Stęszew, Skórzewo, Swarzędz and surroundings – this is the area where I carry out a large part of my projects. Detached houses and new estates predominate here, and clients often look for a designer who understands the specifics of these locations and can recommend trusted local contractors.
Further locations
I also carry out projects outside the immediate vicinity of Poznań. The first meeting can take place online, the survey can be conducted on the basis of photos and dimensions sent by the client, and all documentation is delivered electronically. Any travel costs are agreed individually.
How much does an interior design project cost?
Every quote is individual – there is no single price per square metre that would suit every project. The price is affected by the scope of documentation, the floor area, the complexity of the design and the stage at which our collaboration begins.
What affects the project price?
Scope of documentation
A concept design with 2D drawings is priced differently from full technical documentation with installation designs, built-ins and material schedules, and differently again from comprehensive collaboration including design supervision. The scope is agreed at the start, tailored to your needs and budget.
Floor area and number of rooms
A smaller floor area often means greater complexity requiring more built-in furniture to fit everything in. For larger projects the unit price is usually more favourable.
Level of complexity
A project with a large amount of bespoke built-ins, non-standard solutions or detailed technical documentation takes more time than a simple arrangement with freestanding furniture.
Turnaround time
The delivery timeline is tailored individually to each project. For urgent commissions requiring a shorter turnaround, an additional fee may apply.
Why is it worth investing in a design?
A good design is above all a saving of time, stress and money. Contractors work more efficiently when they have precise documentation.
Mistakes in installation planning, an impractical layout or wrong material choices are far easier to fix on paper than on a completed build. A design also provides something harder to quantify – confidence that the result will match your vision.
- Precise documentation = fewer mistakes and questions during construction
- Well-considered functional layout = fewer costly changes
- Full material list = you know exactly what to order
- Recommended contractors = proven quality and reliability
Sandra Schmidt – interior designer from Poznań
I am an interior designer from Poznań. I have been designing professionally for over ten years – apartments, houses, commercial interiors and exhibition stands. I studied interior architecture, but I have learned the most in practice – on specific projects, in conversations with contractors and clients, by observing what really works in finished interiors and what does not.
I work mainly in Poznań and Greater Poland, but I also carry out projects in other locations – remotely or with travel.
How I design
I have no single stylistic signature that you would recognise at first glance. What interests me is something different – making sure the interior suits a specific person and a specific life. I always start with a conversation, ask many questions and try to understand before I start drawing. Aesthetics matter, but for me they grow from function, not the other way around.
I prefer natural materials, well-considered lighting and solutions that will serve for years – rather than those that look good for a season.
Designing for neurodivergent individuals
This is an area particularly close to me personally. I am a neurodivergent person and have been designing with neurodivergent individuals in mind for years – children on the autism spectrum, people with ADHD, people with sensory hypersensitivity. I know from personal experience how much space can help or hinder daily functioning. This knowledge enters every neurodivergent project – not as theory, but as something I understand from the inside.
FAQ – everything you want to know
Do you have questions or would you like to talk about a project? Write or call – I will be happy to answer and let you know if and when I can take on the commission. Have a question that is not listed here? Write directly.
Typically, smaller apartments take 4–6 weeks from the first meeting. The concept design with drawings usually takes 2–3 weeks, with another 2–3 weeks for technical documentation. For smaller commissions the time is shorter. For larger spaces the working time may extend, depending on the floor area and complexity of the project. If you have a specific deadline – tell me at the start and we will adjust the schedule.
Poznań and the surrounding municipalities are my main area of operation, but I also carry out projects in other locations. The first meeting can take place online, I send documentation electronically, and I organise design supervision with less frequent but longer on-site visits.
I tailor the style to the client and the interior – I do not impose a single direction. I have completed modern, Scandinavian, classic-with-a-contemporary-twist and industrial projects. At the first meeting I show examples to help determine what suits you.
Yes – revisions are a natural part of the process. After the concept design there is time to submit feedback and make changes before we move to technical documentation. Major changes at a later stage may incur additional costs – which is why we establish expectations in detail at the start.
During our collaboration I can recommend trusted contractors from Poznań and surroundings – renovation teams, electricians, plumbers, carpenters and tilers. I know their work from previous projects. If you have your own contractors I can help evaluate their quotes and advise what to look out for.
Yes. As part of the project I propose specific furniture models, lamps and accessories – with product links and catalogue numbers. I also prepare a separate shopping list with full prices.
With a short message or call – tell me what you want to design and what your budget is. I will prepare a preliminary quote on that basis. If it suits you, we arrange a meeting, sign a contract and I begin work.
Have another question? Write directly – I will be happy to answer and let you know if and when I can take on the commission.
